Benjamin Carter, MHC-LP
Trauma and Relationship Therapist
Benjamin is here to help you heal from hardship, mend relationships, explore identity, and cope with emotional distress. Benjamin’s approach to work is gentle, focused, and relational, in which he prioritizes helping individuals and couples to feel understood and guided to make meaningful change in their lives and relationships. He believes that this creates a path for clients to heal and to stay connected to who they are, and what they value. He specializes in couple’s therapy, trauma and identity.
Benjamin’s Approach:
Clinically, he draws from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and AEDP, tailoring each session to your unique needs. In his work with couples, Benjamin works from an attachment lens to facilitate emotional connection and communication, deepen intimacy, and soften conflict.
He grounds his work in the belief that healing comes from integrating identity, culture, and spirituality into therapy. His approach is anti-racist, LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming, and rooted in creating belonging and acceptance across all parts of identity.
What Benjamin is like in sessions:
Grounded in deep presence, gentle challenge, and a focus on what truly matters, Benjamin aims to affirm and explore client values, while helping them to untangle from what can finally be set down. He believes that people are inherently resilient, and that therapy can reconnect you with the strength that you already hold. He brings warmth, attunement, and just enough humor to keep the work meaningful, and connected.
Cultural Background:
With a background as an artist and a family history of small business ownership, Benjamin understands what it’s like to blend passion with work, and to support clients as they do the same.
